The Mounts

There are eight the mounts in the palmistry. the mounts are the fleshy parts of the palm of your hand that have different characteristic meaning for each other.

1.       The mount of Venus
The base of the thumb, its third phalange, is called Venus. This phalange brings emotional matters to join will and logic in the thumb’s overall frame of reference. Areas nearer the thumb of the hand are concerned with our relationship with the outside the world.

2.       The mount of the Moon
It is a pad of flesh opposite the thumb of the hand. It reflects both lunar folklore and astrological references in its connection with intuitive, imaginative, even mystic mental activities.

3.       The lower mount of the Mars
Mars have twin mounts where one on each side of the palm. The lower mount of the Mars lies on the inside of the palm, above the thumb and just below the life line, this amount shows the active aggression, the amount of fight.

4.       The upper mount of the Mars
It lies on the outside of the palm, opposite the thumb and above the mount of the moon. This mount is between head and heart lines. Upper mount of the Mars rules self control, the ability to govern the aggressive instincts and use them wisely.

5.       The mount of the Jupiter
It lies below the index finger and often as you now recognize, the heart line arises on this mount. And when it does, it shows much open heartedness and happiness in marriage. The association here is that the mount of Jupiter underlies the finger that rules one’s position in life. Thus, a well developed mount of Jupiter firmly fleshed shows pleasure in position, a joyous approach to life, the acceptance of its bounties.

6.       The mount of the Saturn
It lies directly below the middle finger. This is the finger that represents restrictions, duty, and to several extent hard work and business. The line of fate as you know is directed toward this finger. Fate shows us our karma or responsibilities in our lifetime. That is why this area so often shows restrictions.

7.       The mount of the Uranus
It lies directly below the ring finger and modern palmistry assigns it to the new age planet Uranus. Old palmistry assigned it to Apollo, God of the sun. This mount has much to do with the arts, rules in ancient Greece by Apollo. It has to do with sociability and finer things of life too, attributable to Uranus.

8.       The mount of Mercury
It lies below the little finger and bears the lines of marriage and of children. It has to do with the practical mind, the daily routine, but as well with expression, talking, writing, selling commercially and science, the healing arts, and commerce. The line of health and success in business starts on the mount of mount of Mercury.
